– I’ve seen someone on the social media who has supported the lycéens in France. She said: “Bravo la jeunesse!” How can she do that? They loot, they are violent. Those middle-class people loose all their stocks in their shops! The streets are damaged. That’s a disaster! Some young people even send back grenades! No wonder they loose an hand! If demonstrating lead to that much violence, all demonstrators should think and find other ways to express themselves.
– That’s because you believe the police, the army and the media are doing their job well in France and that it has got out of hands. But most people who live in France would know better. It is the role of the police and the army to enforce security for all. Instead, the police let the looters and the violent people do what they want so they have a pretext to attack peaceful protesters. There are tons of videos and witnesses proving it. Some parents are accompanying their children to the demonstrations in order to ensure their security, because they know their children are not violent and they know they may be attacked. Back in the day, people used to go to protests with their babies in strollers.
And when some send back grenades, you should ask, why are there grenades used during a demonstration in the first place?
Most of the trustworthy journalists have been sacked. Nowadays, most of French media are just propaganda.
And you are right, in a democracy, there should be other means to be heard. And I can tell you French people have tried to be heard by their government, without success. It shouldn’t be that hard to be heard in a democracy.
But the solutions are in the hands of the government. Why do they ignore the demands of the citizens? Why don’t they organize referendums to deal with the demands of the streets? It would make the demonstrations useless and they would stop instantly, and the government would have to do what the French people want.
Or else, the citizens and the city halls could organise these votations by referendum?
This is true for all the demonstrations, not just for the French ones, not just for the lycéens.
