People complain about children instead of complaining about merchants.
People complain about children making noise in buildings that were
built without soundproofing or double-glazed windows, even though we know how to do it and it was to be expected that there would be children
all to the benefit of real estate developers who make huge profits and therefore had all the money to install that insulation.
People complain about children making noise in restaurants
even though it’s possible to reduce noise levels by installing acoustic dampening devices on the walls and ceiling and creating spaces where they can play.
People complain about children who are being kept indoors
because the outdoors has become too dangerous
to allow for asphalt roads for cars.
This is unnatural; children need to be able to let off energy in nature and socialize with other children.
Plants help reduce noise.
Indoor play on machines and in large doses (screens: tablets, phones, TV, computers) makes children unable to control themselves and increases their tantrums — which in turn causes more noise. This also limits their development because they learn less from a screen than from interacting with a person. Some adults would be better off interacting with children rather than with machines; it’s better for their health.
People complain about children
but they don’t complain about the noise from construction,
road repairs,
and building renovations
which make much more noise
even though the work isn’t always necessary,
and serves to enrich construction companies
rather than improving people’s daily lives.
People complain about children
but not about gardeners who use diesel leaf blowers to clear leaves
or vehicle traffic (airplanes, trains, trams, etc.).
People complain about children
but the bars and nightclubs in town
disturb the entire neighborhood.
Let our children live their lives.
They don’t make that much noise.
Let’s adapt our environment
to reduce their noise nuisance.
